Nutritious Food Delivered to Street-Children in Dhaka by Mojar-School
Nutrition plays a critical part in our healthy being, physically and mentally. Balanced nutritional health can contribute to improved health, a strong immune system, lower risk of chronic diseases, safer childbirth, and of course, longevity. Maintaining a healthy diet from childhood is a very important thing to keep in mind, as eating well as an adolescent can lead to better health and strong immune as an adult. Nutrition playing a vital role in a child’s growth, their physical, as well as academic performance depends on it.
The basic daily nutrition for a balanced diet are carbohydrates, fat, protein, vitamins, minerals, fibers, and most importantly, water. We need to consume clean water for breaking the food into energy, absorption of nutrients, better digestion, healthy tissue growth, cell building, and more other important processes in our body. The other vital nutrients are the building block of good health, consuming different types of food in certain quantities and proportions helps with the absorptions of these nutrients as the body requires. Healthy nutritional diets help a child learn faster and keeps them in a cheerful mood.
No access to a nutritional diet
For the street children and uprooted people, it is a luxury to maintain such a balanced nutritional diet. These people only consume carbohydrates, fibers, and small amounts of fats in a bulk; as this diet keeps them feeling satiated for a long time and is very easy to afford. Deprived of most of the essential nutrition in their diet, street children and uprooted people suffer from malnutrition. It puts a negative influence on cognitive development, physical growth, maturation, and growth rate. Malnutrition also leads to the absence of positive behavior in children and adults.
Street children don’t have access to basic resources to maintain healthy lives. Lack of nutrition in their diet causes severe malnutrition. They can’t afford protein-based food (meat, fish, egg) or mineral and vitamin-based food (fruits, nuts, milk, vegetables), which are very important for a growing child’s body. It affects their behavior and mental growth, leading them towards addiction and aggressiveness, which later resulting in criminal activities.
Mojar-School trying its best to reach these vulnerable people – delivering one free nutritional meal for the street-children and uprooted-people daily. Since 2020, Mojar-School has delivered free nutritional-food regularly, making sure these people are receiving their daily essential nutrition in one meal.
