Free-Nutritious-Food was Provided to 15,196 Street-Children: Mojar School Food Program-January 2021

Before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out all over the world, Shamim used to sell water on the streets of Dhaka. When the lockdown was announced, everyone stopped coming out of their houses.  Shamim was unable to sell water at that time. To the underprivileged-people, losing the source of income means no food to eat. Because they earn a living on day to day basis. But even during this pandemic, Shamim didn’t have to starve herself, Mojar-School was always there for him. Bringing free-nutritious-food for him, every day.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Mojar-School has provided free-nutritious-food to thousands of underprivileged-children like Shamim. It has become a place of reliance for these street-children.

Your generosity has allowed Mojar-School to deliver free-nutritious-food to almost 4,50,000 underprivileged-street-children and uprooted people in the last 08 years from 2013 to 2020. Even in the last year 2020, in the middle of a pandemic, Mojar School delivered free-nutritious-food to a total of 1,50,000 underprivileged-street-children and uprooted people. Many guardian’s and street-children’s struggles have become easier, and that has been possible as you supported us in this journey.

In this new year, 2021, Mojar-School continues its journey to provide free-nutritious-food to the street-children.  So, we are presenting a brief update of the Food Program in January 2021.

Free-Nutritious-Food Delivering Update- January 2021

In January 2021, Mojar-School has provided food to 15,196 underprivileged-street-children. Of these, 72% were street children in Dhaka, while the remaining 28% were underprivileged-children in the remote char of Monpura in Bhola district.

With the new year, we tried to design a new menu for the children. Which includes rice-egg, rice-vegetables, rice-daal, rice-vegetable-bhorta, rice-fish (Pangash fish, Chapila fish, Hilsha fish), chicken khichuri, chicken polao, and also our famous egg-khichuri; to differentiate the taste of the underprivileged-children. To ensure the proper amount of nutrition for the children, we included milk in our menu once a week. Ensuring the nutritional value of food is our priority in arranging meals while giving protein the utmost importance.

Birthdays and Other Events – January 2021

In addition to arranging regular free-nutritious-food, our well-wishers also celebrated their special days with the underprivileged-children through Mojar-School. It might be very little for us, but for those street children celebrations and good notorious food is like a dream come true. Because of our well-wishers, the street children get a touch of enjoyment and celebration in their stale life.

This January 2021, our well-wishers have celebrated a total of 12 events through Mojar-School. Among these events, 07 are the birthday celebration event. All these birthday parties had cakes, juice, sweets, and good quality food (chicken-khichuri, egg, and chicken-biriyani) for the children instead of regular meals.

This month, we have a chance to celebrate an Akikah of a well-wisher’s daughter. This helps us to arrange mutton-polao for the underprivileged children.

All these Events are highly appreciated by the street-children as this created happy memories for them.

Mojar-School’s Well-Wishers

In this Covid-19 pandemic situation, the whole country is traumatized, and it is worse for the children who are living on the streets. Mojar-School’s well-wishers have directly helped us reach out to a large number of children in this pandemic.

This support is still continuing in this new year 2021 and it is getting even more and more helpful for us day by day. Many well-wishers have supported us in this month January 2021. All of them have donated through the bKash app and the official website of Mojar-School.

Also, the encouragement of thousands of well-wishers through social media has further strengthened our confidence.

Long-term Plan & Impact

Mojar-School believes that long-term solutions will not come by only delivering free-nutritious-food. Certainly, we must ensure the education of underprivileged-children. That is why 50% of these underprivileged-children have been enlightened in the light of education through the efforts of Mojar-School for the last 08 years. The school is moving ahead with a plan to ensure education for the remaining 50% of the children very soon.

Thank You Note for Donors

Lastly, we would like to thank all the donors and well-wishers. Today, with your support, Mojar-School has become a place of trust for hundreds of underprivileged-street-children. Without you all, we would never be able to deliver free-nutritious-food to 15,196 underprivileged-children in January 2021.
